Color Families are the hallmark of Flair's uniqueness! They have been created to help you coordinate your selection of designs and colors. With the support of our families, creating finished pieces that come together in a exquisite and striking way is made so much easier.

The airbrush creates remarkable colors on fabrics. Its transparent nature allows for subtle, soft tones that interact with the colors of the fabric. These striking tones are the basis for our color families. Each family is comprised of up to four different yet matching non-toxic acrylic paints. These paints are used to spray a design on any one of four cotton fabrics that have been selected to match each other, and to match the paints. This is a color family...a specific few paints, and four matching fabrics colors. We have created 16 such families. Although any one paint or fabric color may be included in more than one family, no two families use the exact combination of paints and fabric colors.

As you will see below, the fabric color selected of the four choices available within a family profoundly changes the look and feel of a design, even though the paints used are identical. And being able to create any design in any of 16 total families, each with distinct paint and fabric combinations, offers almost limitless options for our artists.

To best use our families with your creation first realize that these are offered to assist, not complicate, creativity. The color families are grouped and labeled for easy coordination, and each of our designs is identified by name, color family and fabric color. If you find a design you like in, for example, the "Southwest" family on, say, black fabric, you know it will perfectly match any other you like that has been done in the same family, whether it has been painted on Black, Peach, P. Putty or Sage fabric (the four fabric colors in the "Southwest" family). Using our color families is that simple: select something from one family, and you know you may choose any other design that has been done in the same family and it will match beautifully.

We have offered each of our hundreds of designs in two or three select color family combinations of those possible. Through custom ordering you may select any Flair design and have it done for you on another fabric color within the same family shown, or in any other family of your choice. You can get a good feel for this family concept by reviewing our popular "Relief Map" texture done in each of the four fabrics that make up each of our 16 families: 64 possibilities for a single design! These have all been painted on cotton, but silk, sueded rayon and other fabrics are available through custom ordering.

As a final example may we offer the ornamental frog design shown in the four fabric colors of the Sage Magic (SM) color family: Black, Bark, Sage and Putty.
